Patroness

MS LINDA COBBAH
MS Linda Cobbah is a Home Economics professional with twenty-five years’ teaching experience; having taught at all levels of education and currently a Lecturer in the Department of Integrated Home Economics Education (Food and Nutrition Unit) in the Faculty of Science, Allied Sciences and Home Economics – University of Education (UEW), Winneba. She holds a Master of Philosophy in Home Economics Education (Food and Nutrition Option) and is a PhD Food Science Technology candidate at the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana.
She has a strong desire and passion to facilitate and conduct research in Home Economics education, curriculum development, Vocational and technical fields with emphasis on Food and Nutrition and other related areas such as recipe and product development and entrepreneurship. Her passion for self-reliance motivates her to organise exhibitions on varied themes including entrepreneurship, recipe development and restoration of indigenous Ghanaian dishes. She has attended and presented papers in both local and international conferences and has a number of articles published in reputable online journals in the field of Food and Nutrition. She has also published course books such as the Food and Nutrition Practical Manual, Fundamentals of Entrepreneurial Skills for Schools and Colleges (4th Ed.) and the latest being A Comprehensive Guide to Seminar Presentations.
She has been a Food and Nutrition examiner (both Theory and Praxis) of West African Examination Council (WAEC) and an adjudicator of exhibitions and pageants for over a decade. She is a public speaker and MC for diverse programmes. She has contributed to her society in diverse ways as she is a Facilitator for Community-Based Skill Training Workshops; Diet Related Health Awareness Community Outreach Programmes and a regular guest speaker of Diet Diary and Science Focus on Radio Windy Bay (a Community Radio) in the Effutu municipality, Winneba. She currently serves as the first counsellor in the Relief Society of Kojo Beedu Ward, the Stake President for the Young Women Organisation and the Stake Communications Director in the Winneba Ghana Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Linda a has strong desire for developmental projects geared towards improvement or growth in the rising generation. She has participated in a project geared towards assisting Visually Impaired to acquire employable culinary skills.
Miss Cobbah remained a faithful and active member of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), GNAT-LAS and was the District SHS rep five years continuous until her lectureship appointment. She is currently the Patroness of the Ghana National Association of Teachers on Campus (GNATOC), UEW Chapter.
Miss Cobbah’s lives by philosophies like, “Drink deep or taste not!”, Persistence will always break resistance!” and“If it must be done, it must be done well”. Her future professional and academic strides are hinged on her passion for Teaching, Food and Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Entrepreneurship, Self-Reliance, Self-Improvement, Economic and Environmental Sustainability.
GNAT Secretary

Ms VICTORIA ESINAM HOMMEY
Ms Victoria Esinam Hommey is an experienced educator, administrator,councillor and civic leader from Ghana. With a second degree from Cape Coast University, she has dedicated her career to education, trade union, leadership, and community development
She serves as the Municipal GNAT Secretary and is actively involved in several educational and civic organizations, including the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO). She has also worked as a Regional Coordinator and Polling Station Observer, contributing to electoral transparency in West Africa
Beyond education, Ms. Victoria is a panel member for the Family Tribunal at the Magistrate Court and has experience in conflict resolution and community engagement. She has strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills, complemented by expertise in public relations, training facilitation, and policy advocacy.
Her diverse skill set includes computer proficiency, communication, driving, sewing, farming, and sports coaching—having served as a Regional Hockey Coach in the Eastern Region.
Ms. Victoria is a dedicated professional with a passion for education, governance, and community development, striving to make a lasting impact in every role she undertakes.

Seth Sackey
G.N.A.T.O.C. Chairman, U.E.W.
Seth Sackey is a passionate Ghanaian educator, transformational leader, and youth advocate whose life story reflects a blend of excellence, service, and resilience. His journey in education has been defined by an unyielding commitment to growth, leadership, and the empowerment of others through teaching, mentorship, and purposeful engagement.
Seth began his educational journey at Weme L/A Basic School, where he displayed early signs of leadership and integrity, earning him the position of Senior Boys’ Prefect. After successfully completing his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with distinction, he gained admission to the prestigious Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, in the Greater Accra Region, and later transferred to Senya Senior High School in the Awutu Senya Constituency, where he pursued Business as a course and served diligently as Academic Prefect.
His strong academic foundation and leadership experience propelled him to St. Francis College of Education, Hohoe, in the Volta Region, where he pursued Science and Mathematics Education. During his time at the college, Seth distinguished himself as a leader of vision and discipline. He served as Chief Justice of St. Martin’s Hall, ensuring fairness and order among students; Assistant Prayer Secretary of the Global Evangelical Students Association Ministry (GESAM), where he demonstrated spiritual devotion and mentorship; and Lead Mentee during the Off-Campus Teaching Practice, where he guided peers and contributed to the success of the teaching practice exercise. His remarkable sense of justice and service led to his appointment as a Judiciary Board Member for the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Volta Bloc.
Upon completion, Seth was awarded a Diploma in Basic Education and was posted as a classroom teacher to Abora D/A Basic School in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region. There, his leadership once again shone brightly as he served as Staff Secretary and a member of the Sports Committee, contributing to both administrative efficiency and co-curricular development.
Eager to advance his knowledge and impact, Seth earned admission under the Study Leave with Pay Programme to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Economics Education at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). His years at UEW have been marked by exceptional leadership, dedication, and a deep commitment to student advocacy.
He currently serves as the Main Course Representative for both BSc Mathematics with Economics Education and Economics Minor students for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years. Beyond that, he has played pivotal roles in the Association of Mathematics Students (AMES), where he served as Secretary to the Adhoc Committee (2023/2024), Secretary to the Welfare Committee (2024/2025), and as a key member of the Dinner and Awards Night Committee for two consecutive academic years.
Seth’s consistency, humility, and servant-leadership spirit have earned him the trust and admiration of his peers, culminating in his election as the Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers on Campus (GNATOC), University of Education, Winneba Chapter, for the 2025/2026 academic year a testament to his integrity, influence, and dedication to the welfare of teacher trainees.
A man of vision and purpose, Seth Sackey is guided by the principles of excellence, service, and leadership through impact. His philosophy is simple yet profound true leadership is not about titles or positions, but about serving others, inspiring change, and leaving lasting footprints of integrity wherever one goes.
With a heart for education and a spirit for service, Seth continues to shape lives, inspire minds, and embody the values of transformational leadership one that seeks not only personal growth but collective progress for all.

Nyamekye Gabriel
GNATOC Secretary, U.E.W
Gabriel Nyamekye (SIR GABBY) is a result-driven 21st-century educator fully committed to serving humanity. He is a proud Ghanaian born in Central Region specifically Kissi within the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality, (KEEA).
He is currently a Level 300 student at the University of Education, Winneba, pursuing Linguistics and English Education under the Applied Linguistics Department. Nyamekye had his basic education at Kissi M/A Primary and JHS. After BECE, he proceeded to St. Teresa’s Minor Seminary, Amisano, for three years and later continued at Eguafo-Abrem SHS, where he wrote his WASSCE.
After teaching at Oxford Preparatory School, Kissi, for one year, he enrolled in Komenda College of Education, where he pursued a Diploma in Basic Education (General Option) with Second Class Upper. He did his mandatory National Service at Kyiase Basic School as a JHS Science teacher.
Gabriel had his first professional appointment as a class teacher at Mampong M/A Basic School, where he taught upper primary classes alongside serving as Assistant Secretary, Assistant Chaplain, Staff Treasurer, and Curriculum Lead. Before leaving the school for study leave, he had attended many capacity-building workshops as a trainee and facilitator.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Gabriel Nyamekye has devoted himself to many leadership roles. He has served as compound prefect, class secretary, ACTT-WEC sector secretary, NASPA committee member, Local Gnat Assistant Secretary and in several other capacities, all of which have equipped him with valuable leadership skills and experiences.
As a committed Christian, Mr. Nyamekye is a proud Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kissi. Within the church, he has served faithfully as parish youth PRO and organizer, and has held other leadership positions such as secretary and president of the Knights and Ladies of the Altar, acting catechist, and others. These experiences have strengthened his faith in Christ Jesus.
Mr. Gabriel (SIR GABBY) is also a football enthusiast who enjoys both playing and watching football, as well as engaging in other sporting activities. Beyond sports, his hobbies include reading newspapers and magazines, writing poems and articles, and listening to music—all of which enrich his personal development and help him make productive use of his leisure time.
Mr. Nyamekye is guided by the philosophies: “If it is to be done, it is up to me,” and “If it must be done, it must be done well in a great manner.” He also draws constant inspiration from the words of Thomas Sankara: “I want people to remember me as someone whose life has been helpful to humanity.”
These philosophies and guiding quotes reflect Gabriel’s life, his leadership style, and his commitment to discharging his duties with excellence.

Janet Mensah
Treasurer
Janet Mensah is an inspiring Ghanaian educator and an emerging leader in the field of physical education, hailing from the Eastern Region of Ghana. Her educational journey is a story of discipline, service, and an unrelenting drive to make a difference in the lives of others.
Her foundation was laid at St. James Academy, where her early passion for learning began to shine. She continued her basic education at Tease St. Fidelis Junior High School, building on her academic strengths and developing a sense of purpose and determination. Janet then proceeded to St. Paul’s Senior High School, Kwahu Asakraka, where she not only excelled academically but also cultivated leadership, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for community service.
Her leadership journey took a defining turn at the St. Louis College of Education, Kumasi, where she pursued a Diploma in Basic Education. As the Sports Prefect, Janet displayed exceptional leadership and coordination, spearheading sporting activities that promoted unity, discipline, and active participation among students. Her role reflected her natural ability to lead with purpose and to inspire others through action.
Upon completing her training, Janet transitioned into the teaching profession, serving with integrity and excellence. She worked diligently as School Treasurer and PTA Secretary, positions that demanded transparency, accountability, and effective communication. Her dedication to sound financial management and community collaboration strengthened the institutions she served and earned her the respect of colleagues and stakeholders alike.
Her quest for academic and professional growth led her to the University of Education, Winneba, where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Within the Ghana National Association of Teachers on Campus (GNATOC-UEW), Janet has served with distinction as Sports Committee Secretary and now as Treasurer. Her leadership continues to be characterized by diligence, precision, and an unwavering commitment to the financial health and organizational success of the association.
Guided by her life philosophy, “Never let the past determine your future,” Janet embodies resilience, growth, and purpose. Her journey reflects the power of determination and service, as she continues to inspire others particularly young educators to pursue excellence in all spheres of life. With her passion for sports, education, and leadership, Janet stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment, dedicated to nurturing holistic development through discipline, teamwork, and lifelong learning.

Janet Opokua Martinson
G.N.A.T.L.A.S. Cord.
I am Janet Opokua Martinson, a proud Ghanaian born in Larteh, nestled in the Eastern Region of Ghana. I am a passionate and purpose-driven young woman currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Clothing and Textiles at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), where I continue to nurture my vision of becoming a transformative educator and a beacon of empowerment for young girls across Ghana.
My educational journey began at 48 Engineers Basic ‘A’ School, where the foundation of my discipline and academic curiosity was built. From there, I advanced to Teshie Presbyterian Senior High School, where I pursued Home Economics (Clothing and Textiles) a program that deepened my creativity, precision, and passion for fashion, design, and education.
With a relentless drive to serve and lead, I continued to Komenda College of Education, where I obtained a Diploma in Basic Education. During my time in college, I distinguished myself not only academically but also through leadership and service, holding various positions including Class Prefect, Entertainment Prefect, and Dining Hall Prefect.
Upon completion of my diploma program, I rendered my National Service at Otinibi M/A Primary School, where I demonstrated professionalism and dedication to shaping young minds. I was later posted to Newtown M/A Primary School, where I taught Classes 1 to 4 and served in additional leadership capacities as Girl Child Coordinator, SHEP Coordinator, and Organizer for Newtown M/A Primary in Half Assini.
Currently, I am honored to serve as the GNAT Ladies Society (GNATLAS) Coordinator for the 2025/2026 academic year at the University of Education, Winneba, where I continue to advocate for women’s empowerment, professional development, and educational excellence among female teacher trainees.
Beyond the classroom and leadership spaces, I am a devoted Christian and a proud member of the Assemblies of God Church, where I serve faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher, helping to build strong moral and spiritual foundations in the lives of children.
Driven by faith, compassion, and purpose, I am deeply passionate about humanity, hard work, and personal growth. My greatest aspiration is to inspire and empower young girls to dream boldly, stay focused, and rise above every challenge that stands between them and their purpose.
I believe that with determination, faith, and service, every young woman can become the best version of herself and contribute meaningfully to nation-building a belief that continues to shape my journey and leadership every single day.

Daniel Siaw-Darfour
P.R.O.
Daniel Siaw-Darfour is a dedicated educator, leader, and team player with a strong passion for teaching and community service. He hails from Obo-Kwahu in the eastern region of Ghana.He began his educational journey at Burma Camp Basic, Kotoka Basic School and completed at Forces Basic School, all within the 5 Garrisons Educational Center before advancing to Mpraeso Senior High School, where he excelled academically and served as News Editor for the Editorial Board and Financial Secretary for the Cultural Troupe.
Daniel continued his education at Ada College of Education, where he held the position of Financial Secretary for Same Hall, showcasing his organizational and financial skills. After graduating, he completed his mandatory national service at Nsawam M/A JHS and taught for four years at Ntoaso SDA Basic School, where he also served as Sports Secretary.
Currently, Daniel is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education at the University of Education, Winneba, in his third year (Level 300). He also serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Association of Teachers on Campus(GNATOC), demonstrating his ability to communicate effectively. Beyond academics, Daniel is a football official for the Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA), reflecting his commitment to sports development. Guided by the belief that “no one is perfect, the reason pencils have erasers”. Daniel embraces continuous growth and collaboration. With a strong foundation in education and leadership, he is dedicated to inspiring and empowering others through his work.

How We Started
Established in 1980, the Teachers' Association has been a driving force in shaping the educational landscape on campus. Our founding members envisioned a community where educators could unite, grow, and inspire the next generation.
Over the decades, we have organized impactful workshops, seminars, and events to foster professional development. Through unity and dedication, we have built a strong legacy of empowering teachers and nurturing a culture of learning.
